Vivian Marie Dorsett, 95, of Lubbock was born October 30, 1923 in Keechi, Texas to Elisha Athus Penland and Bessie Mae (Huffhines) Penland. She married Carl Dorsett August 12, 1940 in Clovis, NM. He passed away Feb. 15, 1998 after 58 years of marriage. She enjoyed crocheting, taking care of kids in her home, and was a wonderful seamstress. She made Miss Lubbock's Wardrobe. Vivian was a member of Red Bud Baptist Church.

Vivian went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 2, 2018. Her parents, husband, 2 sons: David Ray and Cleve Eugene Dorsett, 2 sisters: Joella Poff and Ruby "Joy" Lee Walker, and a brother: Robert Curtis Penland all preceded her in death.

Those left to cherish her memories are her 2 daughters: Marilyn & husband Tommy Hampton, and Rebecca "Becky" & husband David Louis; 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren; a sister: Laura Allene Berry of Huntsville; a half-brother: Jerry Ray Hudgins and wife Yanetta of Murphy, TX; a daughter-in-law: Cindy Dorsett; her dog: Bella, 2 cats: Patches & Ms. Kitty and 4 outside cats.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8pm Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Wilsons' Funeral Directors Chapel in Wolfforth. Services will be at 2:00pm Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Red Bud Baptist Church at 801 Slide Road in Lubbock with Pastor Carlos Hinojos officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the care of Wilsons' Funeral Directors of Wolfforth. The family suggest in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Gideons.
