Obituary

On April 22, 2014, Nell Carter, 82, of Lubbock passed away peacefully from multiple health issues after a long, courageous battle. She was born on Aug. 3, 1931, to Mary Sorrels and David Lafayette Harrington in Brown County, Texas, and was a lifelong Baptist. Nell graduated salutatorian from Brooksmith High and went to business college, majoring in bookkeeping. She practiced her trade through her employment during her working years and for herself during her latter years. She owned and managed Bray's cleaners and NuWay Laundry for many years, making lifelong friends along the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Louise Medley and Cleo Simpson; and brother, Andrew Harrington.

Nell is survived by sister, Emily Fay Estes of Brownwood; brother, D.L. Harrington of Odessa; daughter, Dianna Carter-Hinz and husband Reinhold of Weatherford; son, Lynn Carter of Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the many employees of Hospice of Lubbock, as well as Dr. Jeremy Brown, Barbara Reynolds, Jeff Harris, and Katie and John Salter, for their kindness, care and concern for Nell, and to Dr. Rebecca Raedeke for her compassion and support.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at Cedar Point Cemetery, Brown County, Texas. Burial is under the care of Wilson's Funeral directors of Wolfforth, Texas.
