Michael "Mike" Don Yates, 79, of Lubbock was born July 13, 1939 in Abilene, TX to the late J.D. & Rachael (Turnbow) Yates. He married Jan Rush March 21, 1969 in Amarillo. He enjoyed flying airplanes and racing boats and cars. He was a Golden Glove boxer and in high school he played football. Mike worked in the housing and remodeling industry. He was a member of Lubbock Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Mike passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years: Jan Yates, his son: Todd Yates and wife Kathy, and his daughter Trudi Banda all of Lubbock; 3 granddaughters: Kaylee, Addison, and Makayla; a sister: Trudy Hill of Amarillo, a brother: Nick Yates and wife Diane of Rockport; nephew, Tony Hill and niece, Jessica Yates.
