Obituary

After 91 joyous of love and devotion to her family, Edna Lois (Myers) Griffith left us to be embraced by her Heavenly Father on March 28, 2013. She is finally reunited with her beloved husband, Elton (Doc) Griffith, grandson Steve Holt, and all the many loved ones who predeceased her.

No doubt Heaven's chambers are resounding with her favorite hymn, "How Great Thou Art," as Edna Lois demonstrates her God-given talents in piano and singing.

Born in Amarillo, TX, on September 11, 1921, Edna Lois spent her youth in Plainview, TX where being a high school cheerleader and majorette exhibited her happy spirit. She graduated in 1939, and married Elton in 1940.

The couple moved to Lubbock, TX where she worked at Skibell's Clothing Store, and assisted at Radio Lab where her husband was part-owner. Not only was she a busy mother of four and active in PTA, but was also a founder of Sweet Adelines of Lubbock, Chamber of Commerce (Women's Division) member, and long-time member of Broadway Church of Christ.

All who had the pleasure of knowing Edna Lois knew of her love for coffee ice cream, but also knew a gracious, generous, and Christian lady whose faith and sweetness shone through her actions and words.

Edna Lois is survived by her daughter Gloria Holt, son Jeff Griffith (Catherine Traxler), all of Lubbock; son Gary Griffith (spouse Jo) of Bend, Oregon; daughter Celia Berry of Arlington; granddaughters Kristi Powell (spouse Mike) of Pflugerville, and Ciara Berry of Arlington; grandsons John Griffith of Houston, Michael Griffith of Dallas, Todd Griffith of Bend, OR, and Zachary Martin of Arlington; 3 great-grandsons, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services will be at 2:00pm Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Resthaven Mausoleum Chapel under the care of Wilsons' Funeral Directors of Wolfforth.

If desired, donations may be made in her memory to Lubbock Christian University or the Children's Home of Lubbock.
