In Tribute to our cherished mother Laura Betty Deavours Mora.  Loving wife, amazing mother, incomparable Mimi and great Friend to many.  She was a champion of children and the marginalized all of her life. A true woman of Peace from her service in the Peace Corp to compassionate social worker with Children's Protective Services and caring counselor to family and friends.  Betty married Ovidio C. Mora April 19,1968 in Costa Rica, they enjoyed traveling, camping, & going to the lake.  Betty loved to read.  She graduated from New Deal High School, received a bachelor's degree at Texas Tech in Political Science, & a master's degree in social work from Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio.  Betty retired from the Texas Children's Protective Services after 26 years.

Betty passed away as she lived: "on her own terms and in her own way." She passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021.  Her parents: Sidney Bert Deavours & Roberta (Alverson) Deavours & 5 siblings, preceded her in death. As per her wishes she wants to be remembered as happy, vibrant and full of life.  No mourning allowed, just fond memories.

Those left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 53 years: Ovidio C. Mora, her son Robert Mora & wife Jennifer, and her daughter Laura Mora-Cook, and 3 grandchildren: Sydney, Justine, & Archer Mora.

She has chosen to be cremated and take a trip with her family to beautiful Costa Rica. We hope to have a family memorial in the future. Thank you for all of your well wishes and prayers.
