Juanita B. Garrett, 81, of Lubbock, was born November 12, 1936 in Centralia, Illinois to Waldemar & Minerva (Adolfie) Bormann.  She married Robert L. Garrett December 19, 1953 in Carlsbad, NM.  They lived and raised their 3 daughters in Hobbs, NM.  She moved to Lubbock in  2001.  Juanita graduated from College of the Southwest with a BS in Elementary Education and earned a Master's degree in Elementary Education and a second Master's degree in Reading from Eastern New Mexico University.  She was teacher in the Hobbs Municipal Schools for 25 years and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Juanita was a member of OLLI and South Plains Church of Christ.  She was also a foster parent and tutored at the Smithlawn Home.

She went to be with the Lord Friday, October 5, 2018. Her parents, husband: Robert L. Garrett, and 2 brothers: David & Leo Bormann all preceded her in death.

Those left to cherish her memory are her 3 daughters and sons-in-laws: Leah & Jay Garretson of Lubbock, Robbi & Tom Perry of Greer, SC, and Kimberly & Jim Wilkerson, of Windsor, Colorado. 8 grandchildren: Kale & Bliss Garretson, Clay & Jessica Garretson,  Marci & Rob Rhodes, Ian & Deanna Perry, Erin Perry, Garrett & Carrie Wilkerson, Cami & Kurt Kainer, & Lieutenant Andrew Wilkerson, USN & wife Emery; 9 great-grandchildren; and her fur baby: Libby.

Memorial services will be at 2:00pm Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at the South Plains Church of Christ at 6802 Elkhart in Lubbock with Pastor Jim Brewer officiating.  Inurnment will be in Wilsons' Funeral Directors Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to Smithlawn Home, P.O.
