Josefa Campos Mendez, 96, of Lubbock, was born in San Antonio, Texas on March 19, 1929 to Aureliano and Concepcion (Valdez) Campos. She went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 27, 2025. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-eight years Elpidio Mendez, her brother Daniel Campos, sisters Mary Coronado and Ercilia Campos, brother-in-law Jerry Dee Hunt, and niece Jeri Hunt Arceneaux.

Mrs. Mendez was employed by Methodist (Covenant) Hospital from where she retired in 1992. She was a homemaker and devout Christian who was a member of Emmanuel Worship Center for several years and attended Templo Christiano in recent years. Affectionately known as "Pepa," she was a prayer warrior who truly believed in, and followed, the Word of God.

Mrs. Mendez is survived by her sisters Eva Hunt (Lebanon, TN) and Rosie Honesto (Lubbock), sister-in-law Mary Helen Campos (Lubbock), nine step-children, and numerous nephews and nieces.

The family thanks the staff at Whisperwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Beyond Faith Hospice for providing compassionate and loving care to our loved one. In addition, the family thanks Ruth Amaya for being a very special and close friend.

Viewing will be from 10:00am to 12:00pm Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Wilsons' Funeral Directors Chapel.  Celebration of Life services will follow at 12:00pm Wednesday, October 1, 2025 in the same chapel with Pastor Raymond Almaraz of Emmanuel Worship Center officiating.  Burial will be at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the care of Wilsons' Funeral Directors of Wolfforth.
