Gene Oestermyer, 87, of Lubbock was born December 5, 1933 in LaPorte, Indiana.  He married Marcie Trichel June 16,1956 in Clovis, NM.  Gene worked at the Avalanche Journal for 38 Years.  He enjoyed traveling, reading, and being with his family and friends.  He was regularly active at Highland Baptist Church.

Gene went to be with the Lord Sunday, July 4, 2021.  His parents and a grandchild preceded him in death.

Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 65 years: Marcie Oestermyer, 2 daughters: Valerie Gooch & husband Royce, and Cindy Willis & husband Mark, 3 grandchildren, & 5 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are at 2:00pm Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Highland Baptist Church with Pastor Adam Pardue & Royce Gooch officiating.  Cremation is under the care of Wilsons' Funeral Directors of Wolfforth.
