Gene Carroll Mathis, 89, of Lubbock was born September 16, 1935 in Slaton, TX to Edward Ross Mathis & Susan Lanora (Rudd) Mathis.  He graduated from Amarillo High School.  He married Shirley Jean Grace September 19, 1992 in Lubbock.   Gene was a brilliant web designer and designed websites for Texas Tech and other businesses. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a race car driver in his younger years.

Gene went to be with the Lord Wednesday December 11, 2024.  His parents, a sister: Edna, & his brother Jim were waiting at Heaven's gate for him.

Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 33 years: Shirley Mathis of Lubbock, 2 daughters: Jamie Keith (Mike) of Lubbock & Jenny Smith (Charlie Holcomb), 5 grandchildren: Avery Smith, Whitney Holcomb, Waylon Holcomb, Taylor Keith, & Grayson Keith, along with his fur babies: Cody & Gidget.

Cremation is under the care of Wilsons' Funeral Directors of Wolfforth.  No services are planned at this time.
