Franklin "Buddy" D. Buckner, 84, of Lubbock was born December 9, 1933 in Snyder, Oklahoma to the late Samuel Scott & Alma (Bonham) Buckner. He married Jackie June Jones Oct. 28, 1957 in Lubbock. She passed away Nov. 3, 2011 after 54 years of marriage. He was a veteran of the United States Marines. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Muleshoe and attended College Heights Baptist Church in Lubbock. He moved to Lubbock from Muleshoe in March 2011. Buddy was the 5th child of 13 and managed dairy farms and ranches most of his life. He was putting a roof on a house in his 70's.
Buddy went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 13, 2018. He is preceded in death by 4 sisters: Sandra K Gorell, Wilma "Bity" Chisholm, "Marty" Martha Frances Reindal, & Louise Buckner and a brother: Jay Buckner.
Those left to cherish his memories are his son: Dee & wife Donna Buckner, his daughter: Tammy & husband Doyle Albrecht; 5 Grandchildren: Beth, Katie, & Clay Buckner, Travis & Ashley Albrecht; 7 siblings: Bill Buckner, Beverly Hicks, Dean Buckner & wife Hildegard; Ann Hodges, Samuel "Sammy" Buckner & wife Eddreanna "Eddie", Gary and Jake Buckner.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8pm Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Wilsons' Funeral Directors Chapel in Wolfforth. Services will be at 11:00am Thursday, March 15, 2018 in the same chapel Rev. Jeff Coffman of Calvary Baptist Church of Muleshoe officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock under the care of Wilsons' Funeral Directors of Wolfforth.
