FRANCES MYLONNE GATES
Mylonne Gates of Lubbock passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on March 13, 2014 after a lengthy illness. She was born to R. A. and Myrtle Jane Brown Patterson on January 8, 1938 in Montague County, Texas. A memorial service for friends and family will be held on Saturday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m. at Wilsons' Funeral Directors Chapel in Wolfforth under the direction of Don Campbell, minister. A graveside service will be held at Colonial Chapel Hill Memorial Park in San Antonio on April 5.
Mylonne graduated from Plains High School in Plains, TX. She received her Bachelor of Education degree from Texas Tech in 1972. She completed her Master of Education degree at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos in 1983. She loved teaching and taught math for 25 years in middle schools in Duncanville, and San Antonio. Her hobbies included oil painting and reading. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
She was married to Doyle J. Redwine. They had three children. She later married Charles W. Gates who died in June 2001. Those left to honor her memory include her children: Diane Brazelton of Carney, MI, Bradley Redwine of Hobbs, NM and Daniel Redwine of San Antonio, TX. Her stepchildren: Ronald Gates of California, MD, Morris Gates of Mansfield, TX, Russell Gates of Houston, TX, and Alexandra Iwanowski of San Antonio, TX, two sisters; Janelle Brantley of Plains, TX and Terry Price of Boerne, TX, one brother, Robert Patterson of Helotes, TX, thirteen grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. Aunt "Mon" was much loved by her nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special appreciation to Lynn and Rhonda Cox for the care they provided for many years.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Diabetes Association or favorite charity would be appreciated.
