Felix Martinez Orta, Sr., 83, of Lubbock was born March 31, 1927 in Thorndale, TX to Augustine Hernandez Orta & Reyes (Martinez) Orta. He grew up in Cameron, TX and farmed for 24 years.
He retired in 1989 from City of Lubbock- Street Department after 23 years of services. He married Gregoria Yanis on December 9, 1948 in Bryan, TX. He was a member St. Patricks Catholic Church, Mens Society, Lector, an usher for 30 years and a Cursillista.
Felix passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2010.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gregoria Orta, 15 children: Luz O. Cuevas, Lorenzo O. Flores, Benito Y. Orta, Juana O. Martinez, Felix Orta, Jr., Frances O. White, Mary Lou O. Vasquez, Irene O. Vara, Juan Y. Orta, Valentina Y. Orta, David Y. Orta, Alice O. Guzman, Adam Y Orta, Joel Y. Orta, Monica Y Orta; 36 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
The Rosary will be tonight at 7pm, September 16, 2010 at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Lubbock.
The Mass will be at 10:00am Friday, September 17, 2010 in the same church with Father Cornelio Ramirez and Father Jim O'Connor officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the care of Wilsons' Funeral Directors of Wolfforth.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Angel Martinez, Michael Martinez, Abel Orta, Robert Vara, Jr., Matthew Orta and Joshua Orta.
