Essie Payne, 79, of Lubbock was born April 7, 1929 in Roaring Springs to the late William Carl and Eula Viola (Carper) Roller. She married Rubin D. Payne Oct. 6, 1945 in Roaring Springs. She loved all her family and her precious dog, Scrappy. She is preceded in death by her husband, a grandson James and 7 brothers & sisters.

She is survived by 3 daughters: Linda (Floyd) Waters of Plainview, Teresa (Sid) Gibson and Celia Mohling of Lubbock; her twin brother: Jessie (Bud) Roller and brother: A.L. (Bo) Roller both of Lubbock; 4 sisters: Winnie Byers of Seminole, Ruby Nichols of Lubbock, Margie Payne of Roaring Springs, and Janie Henley of Marana, AZ; 3 Grandchildren: Keith (Jennifer), Jimmy and Valorie (Bobby); 8 Great-Grandchildren, Cassidy, Benna Mae, Trisan, Kaleb, Matthew, Troy, LeAnn, and Amber.
