Obituary

Charles Lee Minnick, Sr., of Lubbock was born April 15, 1930 in Abilene, TX, to Andy Thomas Minnick and Jewell F. Minnick.

He graduated Gordon High School in 1950 in Gordon, Texas.

He joined the United States Air Force with the Air Police in Dec. 1950 to Dec. 1954.

In 1955 he graduated from Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science. He worked at Shannon Funeral Home then at Roberson-Muller and later Harper Funeral Home all in Ft. Worth. He later worked at Marshal & Marshal Funeral Home in Hillsboro, TX.

He purchased Strawn Funeral Home in Strawn, Texas, Busby Funeral Home in Mineral Wells, TX, Morton Funeral Home in Morton, Texas and also was employed at Henderson-Singleton Funeral Home in Lubbock.

Charles decided to stay on at Singleton Funeral Home in Lubbock when the Wilson Family purchased it and changed the name. In 1988 while with Wilsons' Funeral Directors, together with the Wilson Family, furthered his career at Wilsons' Funeral Directors and Cemetery in Wolfforth (use to be called Rest Lawn). He was so impressed with the underground mausoleum and the concept of burial on a bed. Charles recieved has 50 year pin from the Texas Funeral Directors Association. He retired in 2010 after 55 years in the Funeral Profession.

Charles passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012. He is preceded in death by his mother and step-father: Dick and Jewell Dunn who both passed away in 1990. Cameron Duncan passed away May 24, 2011.

Those left to cherish his memory are: Goldie Wilson, Steven (Terrie) Wilson, Debbie Wilson-Duncan, Royce Minnick (Linda) and Charlie Minnick, Jr. (Juanita) , 9 Grandchildren on Goldie's side and 5 on Minnick's side, 6 Great-Grandchildren on Minnick's side and 2 with 1 on the way on Goldie's side.


The family will greet friends from 5 to 7pm Wednesday at Wilsons' Funeral Directors Chapel in Wolfforth.

Celebration of life services will be at 11:00am Thursday, July 19th, 2012 in the same chapel with Pastor Mike McCreight of Legacy Church officiating.

Entombment will be in Wilsons' Funeral Directors Cemetery in Wolfforth.
