Obituary

Betty Florence (Conway) Oswalt, one month shy of 92, passed from this life to her heavenly home on January 4, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones at the family farm in Lubbock County.

Betty was born on February 17, 1930 in Wellington, Texas to Harrison and Lillian (Parsons) Conway. Later, her family moved from Collingsworth County to Wolfforth, Texas. It was there that she met her loving husband Clarence and they married on December 20, 1949. At the time of his death they had been married for nearly 60 years. Together they served the Lord, raised their family, built a farming operation, raised and showed livestock and operated Oswalt Feed and Seed; all the while establishing a legacy of Christ-like love and selflessness. Betty was a faithful member of the Church of Christ following her baptism at the age of 13. She graduated from Samnorwood High School at 16 because she loved school, then completed Draughns Business College in Lubbock. She also studied at Texas Technological College, undertook Practical Nursing training in both Shamrock, Texas and Lubbock, Texas and later finished Hospice of Lubbock training.

Betty was a homemaker and the family farm's bookkeeper. She was also a Frenship ISD PTA President and Lifetime Member of Texas PTA, a substitute teacher for FISD, a Lubbock County 4-H leader, a member of the Young Homemakers of Texas, a South Plains Fair Youth Division Superintendent, a Ranching and Heritage Museum docent and a Meals on Wheels volunteer. She was active in church service as the wife of an elder and taught Ladies Bible classes. In addition, she proudly served for many years as the Wolfforth, Texas precinct's Election Judge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence and her son Charles, her brother William Conway and wife Mozelle, her brother Robert Conway and wife Wanda and her brother-in-law William Clements.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Robert) Teel, her daughter-in-law Paula Oswalt, her grandchildren Stephanie (J. Tipton) Barnes, Jennifer Teel, Clayton Oswalt and Katie (Jordan) Newsom Guzman as well as her great-grandchildren Todd (Alyssa), Georgia, Brynn, Marlowe, Clyde, Charlie, Emma and Evanie. The eight great-grandchildren called her "Bebe," and even with her advancing age she was the best Bebe a kid could ever want. She is additionally survived by her sister Beth Clements and many beloved nieces and nephews along with their extended families.
