Bertha Dean Nettles, 82, of Lubbock, was born August 1, 1941 in Sipe Springs, TX to Edward Loyd Smith and Ora Mae Armstrong-Smith.  She attended beauty school and also worked at a Gin, doing the bookkeeping & taxes.  She married Ronnie M. Nettles June 6, 1958 in Lakeview, TX. He passed away August 5, 2014 after 56 years of marriage.  She was a member of Indiana Baptist Church.  Bertha enjoyed reading, traveling, and she learned to cross stitch.  But most of all, her family was her world.

Bertha went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 30, 2024.  Her parents, husband, son: Michael "Mike" Douglas Nettles (12-21-2020), sister: Clair June Smith, and 2 brothers: Otis Edward Smith & Dalton Ansel Smith were all waiting at Heaven's gate for her.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter: Debra Diann May & husband Ricky Charles and her daughter-in-law: Karen Nettles, 4 grandchildren: Blake Randal May, Christyn Nicole Williams & husband Henry, Trevor Michael Bennett, & Ryan Blake Bennett, 1 great-grandson: Jaylen Ervin, 1 great-granddaughter: Camdyn, 3 sisters: Cynthia "Cindy" Robertson of Rockdale, Bonnie Brookey & husband Tommy of Edmond, OK, & "Aunt Tachey" Joyce "Jodie" Hunt of Lubbock, along with her beloved kitty: Suzie.

Celebration of life services will be at 11:00am Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Wilsons' Funeral Directors Chapel in Wolfforth with Pastor Steve McMeans of Indiana Ave. Baptist Church officiating.  Entombment will be in Wilsons' Funeral Directors Cemetery under the care of Wilsons' Funeral Directors of Wolfforth.
